Privacy Policy
Memorize With Me ("the app") helps you memorize Bible passages by voice. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and how you can control it.
What we collect
- Account info. Your email address and a hashed password, stored by our authentication provider (Supabase).
- Passages you add. The book, chapter, verses, translation, and full text of passages you save to your library.
- Practice history. Sessions you start, the chunks you practiced, transcripts of your recitations, accuracy scores, and coach feedback. This is tied to your account.
- Microphone audio. When you tap the mic, the app records audio locally on your device, sends it for transcription, and then keeps only the resulting transcript. The audio file is not retained by the app after transcription.
- Preferences. Your translation, evaluation mode, text size, and voice/rate preferences, stored on your device.
- Cached audio. The synthesized voice for passages you've heard is cached on your device so subsequent playbacks are free and fast. You can clear this from your phone's storage settings, or it clears automatically when the device runs low on space.
How we use it
- Show your library, run practice sessions, and track progress.
- Transcribe your recitations and generate coach feedback.
- Synthesize spoken audio for passages and feedback.
- Sign you in across devices.
Third-party services
We send minimum-necessary data to the following providers to make the app work:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and edge functions. Hosts your account, library, and practice history.
- OpenAI — speech-to-text (Whisper) for your recitations, and text-to-speech (tts-1) for spoken playback. Audio and short text snippets are sent for processing. Per OpenAI's API policy, this data is not used to train their models.
- Anthropic — Claude provides coach feedback based on your recitation transcript and the target passage.
- Amazon Web Services (S3 / CloudFront) — hosts the Bible text the app fetches when you add a passage.
- Expo — over-the-air JavaScript updates and basic crash/usage telemetry tied to the app build, not to individual users.
What we do not collect
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not run ad networks or advertising trackers.
- We do not share your account information with other users.
- Your microphone audio is never retained by us beyond the transcription request.
Your rights and choices
- Delete your account. Open the app, go to Settings, and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, library, and practice history from our servers. The action cannot be undone.
- Sign out. Settings → Sign Out ends your session on the current device.
- Withdraw microphone access. In iOS Settings → Memorize With Me, turn off Microphone. Recitation features will stop working but the rest of the app still functions.
- Request a copy of your data. Email us at the address below and we will export your account data.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Account data is protected by Supabase row-level security so that one user cannot access another's records.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
